Lower Body
The Knees should be slightly bent to lower the centre of gravity and also to enable more rapid movement and flow into other positions. The feet should be shoulder width apart, and slightly turned inward. They should not be turned in to far as to inhibit transitional movement. (Basically the legs and feet are in the same position as riding horse, but sideways on.)

Upper body

The front hand should be the same as the front leg whether in left snake or right snake and should be inline with the nose. The back hand should be in a defensive position beneath the chest.Note. This position is one of the most flexible stances allowing easy flowing movement into striking or blocking positions.
